Kaizen

Kaizen is the Japanese concept of continuous improvement.

As a philosophy, Kaizen tells us to measure and monitor our progress, identify where we can improve, and focus on improving those areas.

With Kaizen, individual wins or losses are less important than the ongoing desire to improve.  Improvement should be the focus over any single performance.

Our assessments and attempts to improve should be done in quick, iterative loops.  This isn't an exercise done once per month.  Ideally, we should dedicate some thought to Kaizen with each training session.

Kaizen is a common concept in the business world, and is especially common in businesses adopting agile processes.
